My name is Vivien Knoll, I’m 22 years old, and I come from Steinen. Before deciding on my dual study programme, I hadn’t heard of HEINZMANN. When I first came across the company, I was a bit surprised. Mechanical engineering? But I’m applying for media design!
Even as a child, I was very creative—I loved drawing, crafting, and building things. I discovered my passion for media design and decided to pursue a related qualification. It was a very diverse programme, but I wanted to take it even further. That’s why I applied for the dual study programme at HEINZMANN. The interview took place via Teams, and then I travelled to the Black Forest for an in-person meeting. I was quite nervous, but I received a warm welcome. They showed me around, and I even got to do a trial work session.
grandparents, came to visit me. My grandad, a former electronics technician, was absolutely thrilled. He asked loads of questions at every station and had a great time. It was wonderful to see how interested he was.
Now, I’ve been at HEINZMANN for more than a year! My daily tasks include designing and updating brochures, collaborating with department heads and product specialists, creating job advertisements, and designing marketing materials. I often edit images and research visual content.
Over the past year, I’ve changed a lot. I’ve met so many new people, become more confident on the phone, and feel completely at home in the team. It makes me really happy to see the posters I’ve designed hanging around the company—it shows that I’m making a real impact.
I’m constantly learning more about HEINZMANN’s products. Right now, I’m working a lot with products from the “Electric Drives” division and the methanol injector, mainly in preparation for trade fairs. The technology can be challenging at times, but I find it fascinating to understand new developments and see the global impact of HEINZMANN’s work. Sometimes, my head is spinning when our technical editor explains something to me, but I’m getting better at keeping up!
